Challenge Statement

Name of the Department: Energy & Petroleum Department - GUVNL

Challenge Title	:	Renewable Energy (RE) Challenges like uncertainty in Generation, Demand Pattern, Storage Capacity, Shifting of Demand, RE friendly Demand.
Challenge Description with context	:	The RE generation covers Solar, wind, biogas, tidal etc. As the power demand and generation both are increasing with the growth of the country. If the power generation will increase with the present rate of fuel consumption i.e. more than 60% generation with the coal based power plants, it will create a huge problem for the environment due to increase of carbon emission. This will boost up the Global warming. Hence it is to be controlled by increase the share of Renewable Energy (RE) based Generation mostly solar and wind generation. So it is the best way to manage the Demand by the shifting the load through Demand Side Management. More use of RE for house lighting, pumping at agriculture use can be the solution for the problem of Global warming. Cost, Uncertainty of generation, uncertainty of power demand.
What Exact Problem is being Solved?	:	By increase the share of RE, pollution and carbon emission can be reduced which may help to the world fighting against the Global warming. As the Govt of India and states, are very much aggressive for the renewable energy and especially for roof top solar system, more and more people are interested for the same and very much eager to know about possibilities at their premises and the benefits on the investment. For the convenience of that, there should be a common man friendly web based Mobile App which can calculate the load, space requirement, Total Av. Cost of system , availability of Central and State Govt. Subsidy in Rs., financial investment and payback period on the investment. The web based mobile App should be based on different product and suppliers like Policy Bazar.com
Users	:	This problem is faced by all stake holders like generator to end users. So it is the best way to manage the Demand by the shifting the load through Demand Side Management.
Expected Outcomes	:	Mobile app to address challenges
Impact	:	It is a high scale problem for which the whole world is worried a lot, not only for the future generation but for themselves also.
